Spring in North Georgia

Written by Achasta on March 17, 2010 at 12:57pm

Spring in the North Georgia Mountains begins in mid March.   As we usher in daylight savings time on March 14th, spring’s official date is not too far behind on March 20th.  Enjoy North Georgia’s colorful display of dogwoods, azaleas, wildflowers, rhododendrons and the beautiful wild daffodils.

Other points of interest are in North Georgia’s State Parks. If your interests lie with camping, fishing, grilling and exploration, here are a few parks that you can visit:  Amicalola Falls, Black Rock Mountain, Red Top Mountain, Talullah Gorge, and Unicoi.
For additional information on Georgia’s beautiful State Parks visi the North Georgia Stat Parks Website.

Golf is a perfect sport for springtime.  A round of golf means a couple of hours spent outdoors with plenty of sunshine and fresh air. Not many mountain-area courses are easy to walk, but the Jack Nicklaus Signature course is. Nicklaus took advantage of the Chestatee River Valley to design a fairly flat layout.  After your game of golf visit The Achasta Grille where you can enjoy some delicious lunchtime favorites, as well as our special weekend brunches. Did you know that North Georgia is home to some of the South’s most noted wineries?
In Dahlonega you can begin your wine tasting excursion at these beautiful North Georgia wineries: Montaluce Winery, Wolf Mountain, and Three Sisters are a great place to begin. Pack a picnic, enjoy a beautiful mountain drive, and take a tour & tasting.
