Achasta resident Margaret Nemac has been keeping a close eye on the community’s bird population as of late. According to her recent report, the nest boxes around the community are full of blue birds tending to their eggs and hatchlings.

“As of April 19, we have 19 nests in the 20 nest boxes on the golf course, “ said Nemac. “One nest box even has five newly hatched blue birds.”

Nemac has counted a total of 80 eggs in all throughout the Achasta community.

For those who might not know, the Achasta Golf Course is an Audubon certified course. This means that the Achasta community has taken the necessary steps to be recognized for its nature preservation efforts. The main focal point of Achasta’s efforts surround the Chestatee River. The river plays an intimate role with several holes and their design. Achasta has made a strong commitment to providing a world-class golf experience, while also enhancing the natural wildlife surrounding the course. We believe by doing this our course will become even more enchanted.
