Get Ready for this year’s Pie Baking Contest and Pie Tasting Event hosted by The Lumpkin County Literacy Coalition
Do you take pride in your pie baking skills? If so, you should put them to the test at this year’s Annual Pie Baking Contest and Pie Tasting Event hosted by The Lumpkin County Literacy Coalition.
Whether your distinguished pie is either savory or sweet, each will have its own category. Winners will receive cash prices and ribbons for first, second, and third place. There will also be special awards given including the “People’s Choice” and “Sweet” awards. Interested participants should register before May 10. For all those just looking for some great pie, a $10 ticket will get you five servings of pie of your choice. Along with a sampling of the region’s best pie, participants will enjoy musical entertainment by Douglas Brake and The Sizzle-Hiss-Pop Band and the David Brothers Band.
The Lumpkin County Literacy Coalition aims to raise the literacy rate in and around Lumpkin County. Through donations, fundraisers, and volunteer efforts, the coalition has been battling the illiteracy rate for the betterment of the North Georgia Mountain area. All proceeds from this year’s pie tasting will be donated to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program in Lumpkin County. This money will go towards the purchase of books and mailing costs.
For a day of family fun and delicious pie, be sure to swing by the Third Annual Pie Baking Contest and Pie Tasting Event on May 29. Tasting begins at 11:00 am and will continue until 2:00 pm or later. This year’s pie tasting contest will be a great day of fun and charity that you don’t want to miss.
