The Gold Rush Days of Dahlonega Are Almost Here
The Gold Rush Days of Dahlonega are just around the corner.
This two-day event has been voted one of the top 20 events by the Southeast Tourism Society as over 200,000 visitors come over the weekend to join the fun. As the colors of fall begin to appear in the hardwoods of the North Georgia Mountains thousands flock to celebrate the founding of gold in Dahlonega back in 1828.
This special weekend will include a parade, children’s activities, a gold panning contest, and much more. Arts and crafts exhibitors will setup around the Public Square and historic district and there will be tons of delicious food available. The streets of Dahlonega will close at 6 p.m. that Friday and will not re-open until 6 p.m. Sunday to accommodate the large festival.
Gold Rush Days will start on Friday, Oct. 16 and will continue until Sunday, Oct. 18 around 6 p.m. that evening. For more information about this year’s festival visit www.dahlonegajaycees.com. Come out and help us celebrate the rich history of Dahlonega.
